We are all going to die…and pay taxes, those are about the only two things nowadays we can depend on.  With the uncertainty in the economy many established institutions are collapsing, on the verge of collapsing or have collapse including governments.  Even in the best of times we know we are all going to die… then face the judgment seat of God.   Whether or not we believe in God, in death or the judgment is irrelevant; however, the bible says “even the demons believe… and tremble.”

Get out of hell free!

Since none of us are dead, we haven’t experienced death, so we don’t know what that experience is like; yet, one thing is for sure, whatever we had in life is gone, whether we were an Egyptian or an untouchable in India dead is dead.   This can be terrifying even for the most brave; yet, Jesus Christ conquered death and holds he keys to hell and death.  Jesus said, "Fear not, I have overcome the world." He has the keys to the devil’s house, not even the devil has those keys. 

Religions of Works

Many religions throughout the world describe lists of good works to be accomplished, however they define “good works”.   But in the long run all that good works gets us is a place in hell.   Regardless of what good works we do, we are all sinners.  To employ the rationale of good works is like the story of a person charged with a crime, perhaps theft, going before the judge and saying, “but your honor, don’t send me to prison! I helped the poor, I did many wonderful things!”  I assure you, most judges will answer, “that is irrelevant, you committed a crime and you deserve prison!” 

For God to allow us into heaven based on good works, even giving our body to death as a martyr would make Him an unjust God.   That is why a perfect payment in full from the punishment and death of a sinless Jesus Christ allows us a free ticket into heaven.

Jesus said praying to the Father in heaven, "3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth."

John 17:3 (NLT)

The above statement made by Jesus himself gives no quarter for good works or getting into heaven or by any other god, whether it be Budda or Allah; therefore,  if the above statement is false that makes Jesus a liar which gives problem to many other religions who recognize Jesus as a prophet, but not the Son of God, whom He is.   Should the other religions deny the above statement, it makes themselves false as well.

The Thief on the Cross

The thief hanging on the cross next to Jesus had absolutely no way to do any good works.  His life was over and he knew it; yet, he cried out to Jesus, saying, “remember me when you go into heaven!”.  Jesus said, “today you will be with me in paradise.”    Jesus gave him a free gift of heaven… absolutely no good deeds were a prerequisite; just ask!

The Same Free Gift of Heaven is Available for Us!
Scripture says in the book of Romans regarding salvation,

 9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced. ”
12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.
13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13 (NLT)

Jesus stands at the door and knocks; by faith accept His payment for your sins and receive the free gift of Heaven – just ask and believe.   By doing so, His Holy Spirit comes into our lives and gives us a new nature, making “all things new.”  Don’t wait.  We don’t know when our final breath will be, but, Jesus conquered hell and death; believers lose their fear of death since they are adopted into the lineage of Jesus Christ Himself!

Just Ask

If you don’t know how to pray, just talk to God respectfully like you would in your own words, or try something like this, “God, I turn away from my sins, I know I have done wrong and deserve punishment.  Please accept Jesus’ payment for my sins.  Please allow me entry into your Kingdom based on the price Jesus paid for my sins.  Make yourself real to me.  I want to be your child.   I want to be a member of your family and kingdom.  Please write my name in your Book of Life and let me into to heaven.  I know there is nothing I can do to earn it; it is a free gift.   Thank you God for giving your son Jesus as a payment for my sin.   Thank you God for hearing my cry.
